Based on WordPress 3.3.1

  1. Globally Enable/Disable
  2. Single Post Enable/Disable

Many times we’ve been involved in a similar situation:
– someuser – “I don’t want people to comment my post, but I cannot figure out which part of the code I should strip out, could you help me?
– twobeers – “NO!”
Ok, ok, I’m joking 😀

Actually there’s no need to modify theme’s or WP’s files to disable (and enable), comments or trackbacks/pingbacks.

First of all I should consider if I want to disable discussion by default (1), or only for certain posts (2).

We’ve started “messing up WordPress” about 5 6 years ago, and still we can’t say “We do know WP!“, but we’ve learned something about it, so we thought that should be usefull to share this little knowledge we had acquired (I don’t think we’ll be able to post tips frequently as we want to, but we’ll do our best as usual).

The first problem in this idea was “What is elegible to become a tip/trick?“. Every argument that came to our mind seem so “already well treaty somewhere else“, that we never begun.
Finally we realized that basic WP usage suggestions should be the best way to start, as lots of people are asking us support for problems related to WP use (and they think related to our themes).

So, stay tuned and be ready to start learning WP with us.
