Come, già un altro tema per WordPress?? Certo! Ecco a voi Fastfood!
Fastfood è un tema semplice e chiaro, le cui caratteristiche sono:
- larghezza fissa : il vostro blog apparirà uguale per tutti, indipendentemente dalla risoluzione del monitor
- due colonne : da riempire con i vostri contenuti, che saranno visibili ed accessibili
- supporto per widgets : aggiungete tutti gli widgets che volete per arricchire il blog
- pronto per la localizzazione : usate altre lingue oltre all’inglese e l’italiano? Fastfod è pronto per essere facilmente tradotto

La TB Crew è talmente piena di idee (oltre che di birra, ovviamente) che non fa in tempo a pubblicare un tema per WordPress – Wallow è in arrivo, non temete – che ne è già pronto un altro. Nato da una breve e rumorosa (eravamo 4 amici al bar, come diceva Gino Paoli) sessione di brainstorming, Fastfood nasconde sotto l’aspetto minimale e chiaro parecchie funzionalità che favoriscono la navigazione e la consultazione dei contenuti.
La più evidente è senza dubbio il menu a scomparsa (un’evoluzione della “quickbar” di Wallow), attivato dal passaggio del mouse sulle icone posizionate in basso a sinistra, che contiene molti links rapidi agli articoli, alle categorie , ai commenti e agli strumenti più comuni dell’utente.
A destra del corpo centrale del blog si trova una piccola barra fissa che racchiude tutti pulsanti di navigazione oltre a varie funzionalità relative agli articoli. Tra queste ricordiamo l’anteprima di stampa, che permette di avere velocemente un’idea di come verrà stampato l’articolo o la pagina che state consultando.
Fastfood inoltre mette a disposizione quattro aree per i vostri widgets, una nella classica sidebar e tre nel footer.
Nella sezione Admin -> Aspetto -> Opzioni tema potrete modificare le opzioni di Fastfood per venire incontro alle esigenze del vostro sito
Nella sezione Admin -> Aspetto -> Testata troverete alcune immagini per modificare l’aspetto della testata. Potrete inoltre caricare un’immagine personalizzata che verrà visualizzata al posto di quelle predefinite.
Ah, non dimenticate di cambiare il Gravatar predefinito! Andate sella sezione Admin -> Impostazioni -> Discussione e selezionate “Gravatar predefinito di Fastfood”.
Dal momento che durante lo sviluppo WordPress ha rilasciato la versione 3.0 – che introduce numerose novità – il tema è stato rivisto ed ottimizzato aggiungendo il supporto alle nuove funzionalità messe a disposizione.
Fastfood è stato testato con successo su tutti i principali browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera e Internet Explorer – in ordine di preferenza,nb), con e senza supporto javascript. Per le animazioni è stato utilizzato come al solito l’ottimo framework Mootools, che garantisce leggerezza e semplicità.
Versione 0.16
Con l’ultima versione 0.16 di Fastfood sono state introdotte numerose novità, tra le quali ricordiamo:
- la quickbar ora è modificabile, scegliendo se e quali elementi visualizzare (in Admin -> Aspetto -> Opzioni)
- potrete scegliere se utilizzare il modulo di inserimento dei commenti fluttuante o la classica versione fissa (in Admin -> Aspetto -> Opzioni)
- aggiunta una nuova area widget sotto il menu principale
- il titolo del blog può essere nascosto (in Admin -> Aspetto -> Testata)
- potrete facilmente cambiare lo sfondo tramite l’apposita pagina (in Admin -> Aspetto -> Sfondo)
- risoluzione minima dello schermo ridotta a 960px, per risultare compatibile con i display dei moderni dispositivi portatili, quali iPhone4
- adozione di jQuery al posto di Mootools per le animazioni javascript. Ciò garantisce una maggior compatibilità con i vostri widget preferiti
- miglioramenti per quel che riguarda l’affidabilità, la sicurezza e l’aspetto. Forse non si noterà ma il codice è stato pesantemente modificato!

Am using WordPress 3.1.4 and no matter what I do, I cannot seem to change the Widgets that show up. It worked the first couple of times, but now whenever I change options anywhere (theme options, widgets, etc) nothing takes effect.

So I have one problem with FastFood v0.27. If I click to print button on the right bottom on the page or post, they refresh me to print version of the random post. For example if I click to print on the site 1, they refresh me to print design of the post 7 (example). Is this problem only on my website, or it is a bug?

ho dato un occhio al tuo blog e credo che il tuo problema sia differente e, forse, nasca dalla cache o da qualche conflitto con i js (c’è un errore js nelle tue pagine). Prova a disabilitare la cache momentaneamente e vedere se il problema resta, oppure disabilita i js del tema dalle opzioni.
Fammi sapere se ottieni qualche risultato

I have found what seems to be a bug in the last 2 versions of FastFood. If you go to my homepage http://www.chaniel.se/crossconnect with a mobile-phone, click on the menu “Daily reading plans” and then page down a bit and click one of the many links I have there you will see that they all come to the same page but different parts of the same page. Unfortuneatly from the mobile they all come to just the top of the page and not to the position inside the page that they should. It works correctly on a PC. It worked correctly when I first installed FastFood so it is something new. If you want just a quick link to see the problem immediately, click on this link

It should take you to the bottom of the given web-page. But it doesn’t in the mobile-phone. In the mobile-phone you only come to the top of the page.
Forgot to mention that I tested this on WP7 and Android with the same result in both phones.

I don’t think it’s a theme bug, I’ve tested it with my iphone and with a sony-ericsson aino and it works correctly, maybe it could be the way you set up anchor links (it could be that some mobile browser doesn’t support it): you use (eg.)

But when I use Safari or Chrome browser, the bar under title “dropdown animated” is empty (only icons are showed). I want to make a very specific feature request.
I’m using FastFood with a child theme to customize a few things (use a flash widget for the header image… sigh, not my choice) and tweak a few colors.
One thing I wanted was some additional color options so I can set the colors for the 3 navigation areas independently. In order to do this I changed fastfood_get_coa() and fastfood_header_style() but obviously they got blown away when I updated the theme today.
It turns out that I can override fastfood_header_style() in my child theme because fastfood’s functions.php checks to see if it exists yet. I would love it if you would put the same check for fastfood_get_coa() or create some number of filters, perhaps something along the lines of:
fastfood_coa_quickbar
fastfood_coa_postformats
fastfood_coa_content
… one for each group …
fastfood_coa (filter the whole list)
which is probably the wordpress way to do it.
Basically I want to be able to add to the options without having to create my own options page(s).

Hi, in the Safari browser under MacOSX 10.6.8 there is no text visable in the popup balloons above the posts. In other browsers it works fine. Any suggestions? For example if I put the mouse pointer in the tags balloon I see the pointer change from arrow to pointing hand, so the tags are there, but I see none of them.

Really like this theme and I’m still getting to grips with it! It’s nice and clean but not as boring as most of the plain white themes.
Is there any way to show the featured image as part of the content summary on the main page / home page? Just having a summary of text looks a little dull but posting the entire article on the main page discourages people from clicking on the full article.

Ho problemi con la barra laterale destra del tema. In particolare cliccando il tasto print e i tasti feed del post, si avvio il collegamento sempre allo stesso post. Il resto sembra funzionare bene. Reinserisco la barra, quindi andate sul blog cosi vi rendete conto di persona. n.b.: i vostri temi sono versatili e fantastici, funziona tutto bene. Ci tengo davvero che il tasto stampa funzioni bene.

Ciao! In effetti è proprio così, ma è un bug difficile tra scovare visto che non sempre si presenta. Come avrai notato, i link errati della barra laterale dx si riferiscono all’ultimo articolo elencato negli “articoli recenti” del menu a scorrimento di sx. Posso immaginare sia dovuto all’uso della funzione utilizzata per recuperare gli articoli recenti che in qualche modo… incasina un po’ di variabili. Cercherò di sistemare questo problema (magari con il tuo aiuto visto che, come detto, è un errore che compare raramente)
Sono a disposizione per qualunque aiuto, visto che VOGLIO risolvere il problema.

ho fatto alcune prove e dovremmo aver trovato il problema, ma una conferma in più non guasta
questo sistema le cose nella barra di dx ma purtroppo crea problemi al menu a sx, in quanto l’anteprima degli articoli portebbe venire visualizzata non correttamente.
La soluzione dovrebbe essere questa:
apri function.php e aggiungi dopo la riga 395
wp_reset_postdata();dovresti ottenere questo:
fai attenzione ad aggiungerlo nella posizione corretta come nell’esempio qui sopra
Nella linea 373 è presente quanto segue:

Non può creare problemi.
Il problema può nascere solo da una variabile globale $post che non è l’originale variabile $post, e, come giustamente hai aggiunto, questo si risolve con wp_reset_postdata(), ma eliminare una variabile inutilizzata non può creare problemi.
sembra impossibile ma se l’ultimo articolo della lista ha il riassunto impostato a mano, questo viene visualizzato in tutti gli altri articoli. non chiedermi il perchè, dev’essere una questione di variabili globali

Domanda: prima della modifica suggerita, il print preview funzionava? Nel senso, apriva sì la pagina sbagliata ma almeno si vedeva in modalità preview?
No, non si è mai vista la modalità print preview come si vede invece nel vostro sito….si vedeva e si vede solo ila pagina del post. Solo che prima era il post sbagliato, ora è il post corretto. Quando clicco su feed si ricarica lo stesso post.

Stavo notando una cosa: non funziona nemmeno il link a “all categories” che sta nella scheda “categorie” del menu a scorrimento di sx (il link è l’ultimo “continua…”). Questo mi ha fatto sospettare che il problema siano i permalinks. Vedo che usi il plugin Yoast WordPress SEO.
Non è che magari l’hai impostato in modo che pulisca i permalinks?
Ho provato ad installarlo in locale e l’abbinamento permalinks personalizzati + Redirect ugly URL’s to clean permalinks riproduce perfettamente i sintomi da te riscontrati.
Quindi prova a disattivare l’opzione di pulizia dei permalink di Yoast o alla più disperata prova a disattivare il plugin, perlomeno per vedere se il problema sta lì o no
Provero a fare come dici tu, ma all categories forse non mostra nulla di nuovo perchè le categorie sono solo quelle e “continua…” effettivamente non continua da nessuna parte (o sto dicendo una cavolata?)…provo con yoast e ti tengo informato.

Ecco cosa ho fatto:
1 – sono andato in “permalinks” di Yoast e ho disattivato questa voce:
“Redirect ugly URL’s to clean permalinks. (Not recommended in many cases!)”;
2 – funziona tutto, anche le categorie, tranne il fees rss;
3 – ho provato ad eliminare la riga 396 e si è ripresentato il problema che mi riindirizzava alla pagina/post sbagliato ma…. rss feed funziona anche se è collegato alla pagina sbagliata.
Manca solo di risolvere il problema rss feed.

Ho continuato ad utilizzare il blog, è ho notato che il problema dei rss feed che non funzionano valgono solo per i primi due post, per gli altri funziona! Non è pazzesco?

Probabilmente il problema lo ha solo il mio browser Firefox perchè con gli altri browsers funziona tutto a pennello.
Siete stati bravissimi a scovare errori e impoistazioni sbagliate mie.
Se per voi va bene vorrei scrivere un post che parli dei vostri temi e creare una pagina nel mio blog che spieghi come utilizzare il tema del blog che sto usando cioè Fastfood.

Tanto per rompervi le scatole vi chiedo un’altra cosa:
– quando clicco su (continua…) per visualizzare interamente, per es il primo articolo, il pulsante google plus scompare.
– vabbe le cose erano due: quando clicco su, per es, categorie–risorse blogger, nell’elenco degli articoli non compare più il pulsante di facebook.
Se è di vostra competenza e riuscite a darmi una mano bene, altrimenti è stato già magnifico l’aiuto e le soluzioni che mi avete dato.

thanks for that great theme. But I have a little problem. I’m looking forward to include a javascript based affiliate pagepeel-code into my Blog but after the import of the code in the header.php there is nothing to see. I checked this out with other themes and they are working perfectly.

Modificare i colori di fastfood non è così immediato purtroppo, è necessario agire sul file css nella cartella del tema.
Ti consiglio di fare un child theme per questa modifica (qui una breve guida), e di includere nel css del child solo le parti relative ai colori, per esempio:

I did not know such things could be done without any Flash involved. But I’m new to this “making-site” thingy and really after trying out joomla, I came back to my first choice: WordPress.
There are only few things I want to change. Such as the background color wich is in a clear grey and, of course the typo color too.
As I surfed around your site, I view few things that helped me. But could not find anywhere how to get rid of that color.
I made a child theme and applied the line :

first of all, thanks for your compliments, we really appreciate them.
To change bg color and links color there’s no nedd to make a child theme, just surf to Dashboard -> Appearance -> Background to change the background and Dashboard -> Appearance -> Theme Options, subcontent Colors to change link colors.
However, if your need is to change content background (post and sidebar area), you’ll need a child theme, something like
#content { background: ACOLOR url("images/ANIMAGE.png") repeat-x scroll left top; width: 848px; }if you add new images remember to add them to the child thme, not in the main one.
About e-commerce plugin, I’ve had a fast look on it and I’ve found out you should be able to disable (Sure I am! What am I?! Are you joking?! I’m the joker!!!
), comments both in products page (the automatically generated one that you find under Dashboard -> Pages), and in single product card (at the bottom there something like “use comments”).

theme options only affect theme “capacity” to display post format, it won’t change the format set for the post; to change the format of a single post you should open it in edit mode and choose the format you like in the format post menu.
This is the best I can do for your problem… to find a solution I think you should ask support to “gravity form” developers, as I don’t know how their plugin works, but it looks like that post format is set by the plugin itself.

Sorry to intrude once more, but I don’t find the answer by myself and i’m starting to wonder if I’m not some stupid guy …
I tried to use a childlike theme but all my div go crazy. So I adjust my correction on the original theme and note “elsewhere” my numerous modification.
I would like my header to always stay on top and my footer as well. In order to have a scroll section from my menus to my footer which would always be visible. Kind of like your site.
If it’s too hard I’ll understand of Course.

per la prima domanda devi attendere Jimo, mentre per la seconda è sufficiente che vai in Dashboard -> Impostazioni -> Discussione e togli i check ai controlli che non vuoi abilitare (sezione “Prima che appaia un commento”).

- per quel che riguarda il widget “Follow me”, apri il file lib/widget.php, dalla riga 446 a 469 ci sono elencati tutti i network supportati. Per eliminarne uno basta che cancelli la riga corrispondente (non è altro che un array, ma diviso in righe per facilitare la lettura).
Per aggiungerne uno devi creare una riga (ovvero aggiungere un elemento all’array) col nome del network che vuoi, ad esempio “Google+”, quindi creare un’icona .png all’interno di images/follow con lo stesso nome che hai usato prima, es. “Google+.png”.
- Per l’opzione “Share this”, apri il file functions.php, alla riga 601 trovi la funzione
fastfood_share_this(). Il suo funzionamento è molto semplice e comprensibile. Aggiungi e togli alla bisognaSpero di esserti stato d’aiuto!

Ho capito come fare per sistemare Follow me, ma impegni scolastici non mi hanno consentito di intervenire. Lo faro al più presto.
Ho anche notato che con l’aggiornamento del tema Fastfood cliccando su un’immagine compare una sovraschermata che la visualizza a parte.
Mi chiedevo se la sovraschermata la si puo impostare con lo sfondo bianco e non nero nel rettangolino che visualizza le immagini.
Questo perchè avendo molte immagini con sfondo neutro (tipo layer) vengono visualizzate non in modo gradevole con lo sfondo nero.

I like your theme; looks pretty good on mobile, but can’t seem to get the Search to work and freezes or the Tags. The tags in the drop down at the top seem useless, because they only refer to the post shown below. When I add the tags widget that comes with, it only lists terms in posts, and not pages. When I install a new tags widget (simple tags), which I know works for pages, I get the same and is at times grayed out.

the point is that WP is not suppose to add tags to pages… So why have a widget that display pages’ tags if they’re not suppose to have tags?!
If you use some plugin to add tags to pages, you should ask plugin developer to make a widget for that very purpose (remember WP is a blog platform, not a CMS, it’s not made to build a static page site – of course you can use it for that, but it’s up to you to shape it for your goals).
Tags shown in the drop down are useless if you don’t know their meaning: from WP docs
About search, did you encounter the problem in normal or mobile mode?

Below you will find both a philosophical and technical response to answer that I hope answers your question.
According to wikipedia, in 2007 WP won the Packt Open Source CMS Award, in 2009 the Packt best Open Source CMS Award, in 2010 the Hall of Fame CMS category, in 2010 the Open Source Awards, and in 2011 the Open Source Web App of the Year Award at The Critters. Following WPs Open Source CMS Hall of Fame award, Matt Mullenweg related in his WP News piece “We have to be careful because if this trend continues people might think WordPress is a real CMS, useful for more than just a blog. This would ruin our stealth campaign and might bring dozens of new users to the WordPress community. If you could keep this on the DL [or down low] we’d appreciate it. We don’t want WordPress to develop a reputation.”
You could say WP has a lot in common with leopards, where “a leopard doesn’t change its spots” having become attached to its characteristics as having been born a unique blogging platform and separating itself from all else in the same way a leopards spots are unique individualizing itself within its own species, when in fact PACKT sees WP or the sum of its spots as a mixture of different colours and various shapes that create the overall effect and pattern of a CMS.
So why have a widget that display pages’ tags if they’re not suppose to have tags? A leopard is far greater than its spots. I suppose I’m not under any misconception of what WP is by labeling this spot as WP has to appear unique, which only creates separation and imposes limitations that hide the truth about what it is; a leopard. I accept the spots for what they are, taking responsibility for what I perceive, i.e. one that reflects my spots. Most certainly, I will always respond from a perception that enables unity that does not separate me from the truth, even though the spots are that which allow this realization. So I guess its how you look at it.
From a less philosophical point of view, and more technical one; I see tags as ostensive in purpose giving visitors not only the ability to browse similar posts, but also serve to group posts and pages together that share something in common, without having to create separate categories or additional pages.
For instance, kids-halloween.com is a (new) site of mine where all its pages are dropped into three main pages just like its posts’ counterpart categories, i.e. theme, character, and role. Unlike its posts’ counterpart, pages separate the boys costumes from the girls, kids from the toddlers, etc. depending on their respective availability.
However, visitors are not just interested in buying costumes; e.g. they want to know what the #1 costume is for the season, or some examples of royal names or get their hands on a script for their role playing to go with the costume. Additionally, if I am posting a sale on 50s costumes that can be found under role and character of pages, as in greaser and poodle skirt, or Sandy Olsson from Grease or Danny from T-Birds for girls and for boys, I am going to want to connect the sale (post) with the pages where the visitor can find the available costumes.
Also, I employ the use tags for SEO purposes, which help “blogs” get an A+ rating from Google, because they serve as internal link multipliers. Essentially, tags allow me to create limitless strategic connections. What I find especially great is the cloud itself. Being that we humans are rather gregarious by nature, the tags grow in size depending on their popularity. A side; Googles entire platform is based on keyword popularity and competition. So I ask you; why have a widget that display pages’ tags if they’re not suppose to have tags?
Simple Tags is an excellent plugin/widget, with which I am extremely pleased, but does not seem to work with fastfood (thusfar) : ((

My previous answer came from your question about a widget that display pages tags: you wrote a widget, not a plugin… I’ve wrongly thought that you don’t know WP basics (again sorry about that), and I didn’t think about a plugin (tons of them out there).
Really pleased search is working now.
About tags, themes files have to be modded to display tags also on pages, you can compare single.php and page.php and see what the 2nd is missing (I can’t do it for you or give you more hints as I’m on holiday and I have only my smartphone…).
