Le principali caratteristiche di Shiword theme sono:
- larghezza fissa : tutti i visitatori potranno godere dell’aspetto del vostro sito alla stessa maniera

Shiword è un tema dall’aspetto hi-tech, che ricorda nelle fattezze numerosi prodotti multimediali portatili.
Nell’indice principale gli articoli sono presentati tramite le rispettive miniature – se presenti e se non sono state disattivate tramite le opzioni – ed il riassunto del contenuto.
Ad un primo sguardo si riconoscono elementi già presenti nel precedente tema Fastfood. In effetti Shiword ne è un diretto discendente, integrando quindi molti degli strumenti – opportunamente rivisti e migliorati – che caratterizzano il suo predecessore ed in generale tutta la produzione di TwoBeers, dallo sconosciuto TheBlackCity all’ormai famoso Wallow.
Troviamo quindi la “quickbar“, ovvero un menu a scomparsa che permette di avere tutti i contenuti più importanti a portata di click. Si può scegliere tra articoli recenti, commenti recenti, categorie più popolari e i tools più comuni dell’utente (in pratica un’estensione del classico “meta”). Tramite le opzioni del tema è possibile scegliere se ed eventualmente cosa visualizzare nella quickbar.
I pulsanti di navigazione si trovano in basso a destra del vostro pad. Tutti i links di gestione, consultazione e navigazione dei vostri articoli, pagine o attachments compariranno là, senza doverli andare a cercare per la pagina.
Esclusiva di Shiword è senza dubbio lo sticky-slideshow. Sapete che si possono mettere in evidenza gli articoli in modo che siano ben visibili e sempre in cima alla lista, vero?! Bene, con lo slideshow potrete dare loro ancora più visibilità. Vedrete i vostri articoli più importanti scorrere nella pagina principale, appena sotto il menu. Ricordate che:
- normalmente è disattivato. potete attivarlo tramite le opzioni del tema
- attivando lo slideshow, i post o pagine selezionati verranno mostrati nella slide.
- gli articoli e le pagine da mostrare nella slide vanno selezionati in Bacheca->Aspetto->Slideshow.
- lo slideshow ha bisogno delle animazioni javascript. Quindi no javascript = no slideshow
- lo slideshow non compare nelle singole pagine o articoli
Un consiglio: non abusate degli “sticky posts”, altrimenti rischiano di perdere ogni significato.
Shiword mette a disposizione ben 5 aree widget (no, dico, 5!!!!). Una classica sidebar (che può essere disattivata tramite le opzioni), tre aree nel piè di pagina ed una nella testata. Quest’ultima è stata pensata per accogliere widget grafici, quali icone – ad esempio i vostri link ai social network – , pulsanti vari o il più classico modulo di ricerca.
Ricordiamo che tutte le funzionalità finora presentare possono essere disattivate/attivate tramite il pannello funzionalità in Bacheca->Aspetto->Opzioni tema
L’immagine di testata può essere cambiata usando una tra le quattro proposte – le trovate in Bacheca->Aspetto->Testata – o caricandone una personalizzata tramite l’apposito strumento. La testata ha un’altezza minima di 100px ma se inserite widget ingombranti, adatterà le proprie dimensioni di conseguenza e l’immagine di fondo sarà ripetuta.
I colori possono essere modificati tramite una semplice interfaccia che non richiede alcuna conoscenza di css/html, la trovate in in Bacheca->Aspetto->Colori Personalizzati. L’interfaccia di personalizzazione offre, inoltre, un’anteprima dinamica del risultato, evitandovi il costante salva e aggiorna.
Shiword aggiunge un nuovo gravatar di default alla lista dei disponibili. Andate nella sezione Bacheca->Impostazioni->Discussione e selezionate “Gravatar predefinito di Shiword”. Solo se volete, eh!
Per dare all’utente la sensazione di trovarsi all’interno di un ambiente graficamente uniforme, sono state apportate delle modifiche estetiche anche alla pagina di login.
Nello svilupare Shiword, è stata posta grande attenzione a compatibilità, affidabilità, estetica e leggerezza (in ordine di importanza). Il tema è stato infatti testato su tutti i principali browser (Firefox, Chrome, Maxthon, Safari, Opera e Internet Explorer (8/7) – in ordine di preferenza,nb), con e senza supporto javascript. Proprio i javascript presentano una novità: per le animazioni, sono stati purtroppo abbandonati gli ottimi Mootools per gli altrettanto buoni jQuery, che hanno il vantaggio di essere già integrati in WordPress e permettono di risolvere molti problemi di compatibilità con alcuni plugin.

Shiword is an “hitech multimedia-handsets-look-like” theme.
In the main index, posts are presented through their thumbnails – if any, and if you have not disabled them through the options – and the summary of the content.
Shiword integrates many of the tools – revised and improved – already present in the previous theme Fastfood and in general in the TwoBeers’s production, from the first unknown TheBlackCity to the popular Wallow, let’s have a look!
The “quickbar“, a sliding menu that give you quick access to all the important content as recent articles, recent comments, most popular categories and most common user tools (basically an extension of the classic “meta”). Through theme options you can choose what to display in the quickbar.
The navigation buttons are located at the bottom right of your pad. All management, consultation and navigation links of your posts, pages or attachments will appear there.
The slideshow is the exclusive feature of Shiword. You know that you can highlight the posts so they will be highly visible and always on top of the list, don’t you?! Ok, with the slideshow you’ll have another way to give your posts, and also pages, even more visibility.
Consider a few things:
- it is turned off by default. you can activate it by the theme options
- by activating the slide, the selected posts or pages will be show in a banner
- posts or pages have to be selected in the “Dashboard->Appearence->Slideshow” submenu
- slideshow needs javascript animations. So no javascript = no slideshow
- the slideshow does not appear on individual pages or posts
Tip: do not abuse of the “sticky posts”, or they will lose all meaning.
Shiword provides up to 5 widget areas. A classic one into the sidebar (which can be disabled via options), three areas in the footer and one in the head. The later was thinked for graphics widgets, such as icons – for example, your links to social networks -, various buttons or the classic search form.
All these features can be enabled/disabled in the Dashboard->Appearance->Theme Options page.
The image header can be changed in Dashboard->Appearance->Header. The header has a minimum height of 100px, but if you use bulky widgets, its size will adjust accordingly and the image background will be repeated.
Colors can be changed in Dashboard->Appearance->Custom Colors. The skin builder has also an usefull dynamic preview: no need to save and refresh to see what your site will look like.
Shiword add a new default gravatar to your blog. Go to Dashboard->Settings->Discussion and select “Shiword default Gravatar” to use it.
To give the user the sensation of being inside a uniform design environment, graphic changes have been made also to the login page.
In Shiword development, we paid great attention on compatibility, reliability, aesthetics and lightness (in order of importance). The theme has been tested on all major browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Maxthon, Safari, Opera and Internet Explorer (8 / 7) – in order of preference, nb), with and without javascript support. For animations development, we, unfortunately, abandoned the excellent Mootools in favor of jQuery, which has the advantage of being already integrated in WordPress and can solve many compatibility problems with some plugins.

I have translated your theme in to dutch (nl_NL) so if you want i can mail you the .po and mo files for that. I found a few bugs though …
1. there is a bug with the footer text i.e. <> on the main page it is incorrect, but it’s correct on the subpages (see my site for an example).
2. even though i have added a footer widget to log in, when i log in it doesn’t show on the main page …

you’re right, with WP3.1 the thumbnails on the slideshow (and even in the Quickbar) are all the same. That’s really strange… Anyway, this version of Shiword is not fully compatible with WP3.1, but we’re already working on a new one

I use it in Japanese (a multi-byte) environment.
There is the case which malfunction produces in “recent posts” of the sliding menu and “recent comments”.
It seems that the reason is because the handling of that does not consider a multi-byte language when I cut character string title is carried out.

) and I fixed the “multi-byte” issue using the mb_ functions. Unfortunately we need to shrink some strings because of the limited space of the quickbar panel. Actually there was a better way… using the css property “text-overflow”! But, wait, there’s a little problem: every browser supports it (even IE6!!!), except Firefox

About the processing that I supported a multi-byte, I found the method that was better than the method that I suggested the other day.
I did suggestion to change “mb_strlen” in “mb_substr” in substitution for “substr” in substitution for “strlen” the other day.
The method that I found this time is a method to use “mb_strimwidth” in substitution for “mb_substr” in “mb_strwidth” in substitution for “mb_strlen”.
The method that I found this time seems to work as ANK letter two characters share by a multi-byte letter last time whereas a function of the suggestion works in a standard in “sentence number of characters”.
I renew function.php of my site and tried it, but seem to work without a problem.

I think that I may clear a multi-byte environmental problem in this more.

I decided to trim the post title to 35 chars, while the name of the author is trimmed to 20 chars. This seems well-balanced, imho.

To enable the right sidebar go to Dashboard->Appearance->Theme Options, check “right sidebar” option, it should be enabled. Go to Dashboard->Appearance->Widget and add to “Sidebar Area Widget” what you want, and that’s it

You have a static page as main (home) page, don’t you? Well, actually the slideshow is visible only on posts overview. We’ll probably add an option on next release.
By now, if you can edit the theme files, try this:
- open the header.php file with a text editor
- find this (line 60)

with
pay attention to “!” and “()”
- save&close
Now the slideshow will be showed on your home page

In calce appare la scritta: “oggi è martedì marzo 22, 2011“, che non è ottimale per un utente/lettore italiano.
Vorrei sostituirla in: “oggi è martedì, 22 marzo 2011“, più adatta al pubblico italiano.
Credo che la modifica non sia difficile, ma non voglio mettere le mani sul codice senza una “dritta” ufficiale.

in effetti è stata una svista nel codice. Comunque è una modifica semplice da fare.
Apri il file footer.php e cerca (alla fine di riga 129)
Sostituisci con
Salva e chiudi.
Così facendo la data verrà visualizzata secondo le impostazioni generali del sito ( impostazioni -> generale )
Perfetto. Sapevo che era semplice, ma per esperienza precedente, dove con una semplice modifica ho “scassato” tutto, ora preferisco chiedere a chi di dovere.
Approfitto per complimentarmi del Template, efficiente e bello, ne ho provati molti, tutti buoni, ma sempre mancava un particolare che mi interessava, altri, sicuramente perfetti, erano troppo complicati da configurare per chi non conosce l’inglese. Questo è ottimo, semplice, ed in italiano.

Vorrei che il testo dei Post sia giustificato per default.
Anzi, l’optimum, sarebbe di poter scegliere nel pannello di configurazione la possibilità di modificare la visualizzazione del testo.

l’allineamento del testo viene deciso dall’autore degli articoli durante la scrittura dello stesso, questo perchè l’autore deve essere libero di dare, ad ogni parte dell’articolo, l’aspetto che preferisce.
Per attivare gli strumenti di formattazione avanzata durante la scrittura/modifica di un post fai click su “Mostra/Nascondi barra strumenti avanzata (Alt+Shift+Z)” come da immagine seguente.
Altrimenti, se preferisci usare l’editor HTML, aggiungi
all’inizio dell’articolo, e
alla fine dello stesso. Con questo sistema potrai comunque variare l’allineamento delle porzioni di testo all’interno dell’articolo (vd img seguente per esempio).

Guardando il tuo blog mi sono accorto che forse ti riferisci alla formattazione del testo nella pagina principale quando si utilizza la funzione “riassunto”, si in questo caso un’opzione aggiuntiva per la formattazione potrebbe essere una buona idea
.
Nel frattempo puoi aprire il file index.php, trovare riga (87)
e sostituirlo con
in questo modo anche il riassunto degli articoli nella pagina principale sarà formattato “justify”

Ho notato un piccolo problema, quando inserisco il testo la finestra che WordPress mette ha disposizione si è ridotta, come potete vedere nell’immagine a questo link:

Con altri template questo non succede, il testo occupa tutta la parte utile.
Questo non è un problema urgente, in quanto per ora sto solo facendo operazione di copia-incolla prelevando i dati dal vecchio sito in html, diventato ingovernabile. Ogni minima modifica era una tragedia.
Più avanti inizierò il lavoro di revisione e ricostruzione di tutti il link, e in quel caso mi sarebbe utile sfruttare tutto lo spazio disponibile.

Questo in realtà non è un vero problema, è dovuto al fatto che, per meglio rendere l’idea dell’output nell’editor visuale, abbiamo forzato lo stile dello stesso.
Se preferisci avere l’intero spazio a disposizione puoi modificare il file css/editor-style.css sostituendo

html .mceContentBody { width:100%; font-family: verdana; font-size: 12px; color: #aaa; background-color: #111; margin: 0 auto; }Ti consiglio, inoltre, di segnarti da qualche parte tutte le modifiche effettive che stai portando al tema, in quanto nell’arco di un paio di settimane verrà rilasciato un nuovo aggiornamento e queste ultime 2 personalizzazioni (justify e css), non saranno inserite (va da se che le potrai comunque riconsultare su queste pagine
).
Ultimissima cosa, una sorta di idea/suggerimento, vista la natura del tuo sito (molto interessante devo dire), potresti aggiungere una googlemap, di tutti i comuni/lughi di cui tratti, sarebbe un interessante e utile riferimento visivo per il lettore.
Per googlemap avevo già pensato di fare qualcosa, ma ora l’urgenza è ricaricare tutte le pagine, perché già mi sono arrivate varie email di protesta per la scomparsa del sito in html.
Se avessi lontanamente previsto l’ondata di proteste avrei lasciato in parallelo il vecchio sito.

Sorry but it’s impossible. The theme uses a lot of CSS property that IE6 does not support, especially the “position: fixed” which is crucial for the graphics.
I will never get tired of repeating that IE is an old browser, with many deficiencies and a lot of security holes.

il tema non influisce con le funzionalitàdi WP per riprodurre i video. Verifica che in Dashboard–>Settings–>Media sia selezionata la voce Auto-embeds (fonte WordPress.org Codex Embeds).
Se questa non basta puoi aggiungere al tuo blog il plugin Jetpack, questo aggiunge le funzioni di embeding che hai illustrato prima e svariate altre molto utili per un webmaster (incluse anche il sistema di statistiche gratuito fornito da WordPress.com per cui è necessaria la registrazione).
Ultima cosa, l’embeding dei video non funziona nei commenti, ma solo negli articoli.
Spero che questo risolva il problema, altrimenti faccelo sapere
p.s. per evidenziare il codice su questo blog (è un plugin), sostituisci CODEALIAS con html, php, js (es. [ php ] …. [ /php ] senza gli spazi tra le [ ])
Veramente uso la versione italiana, quindi Auto-embeds sarà probabilmente Incorporazione automatica. Comunque inglese o italiano la voce era selezionata. Ma quello che ho notato che solo su alcune pagine mi crea questo problema. Ora non ho tempo ne voglia di controllare lettere per lettera quello la visualizzazione in html, magari più avanti lo farò.
Ho risolto il problema con JetPack, che non avevo ancora installato per non appesantire il caricamento.
Mi ero dimenticato di informare che sono collegato a internet con un sistema radio, di teorici 512Kbyte, in realtà non ho mai superato i 320 in pochi picchi nel corso della giornata, rimanendo su una media di 200Kbyte quindi ogni minimo aumento di peso per me è mortale, e questo è uno dei motivi che ho eliminato anche la pubblicità. E non vado a raccontare gli altri mille problemi di questo collegamento, servirebbe un nuova Treccani.

Certo che con una connessione così le difficoltà sono enormi…
Io già usavo JetPack su altro sito, ma non ne utilizzo le statistiche perché non sono riuscito a eliminare il conteggio delle mie pagine, e quindi le statistiche sballano, specialmente in questo periodo dove il lavoro di inserimento e aggiornamento è massiccio.
In verità non ho trovato nessun contatore che mi soddisfi, alcuni, in inglese, sono complicati all’inverosimile, chiedendo API KEY o bestialità varie.
Quelli italiani, pochi, alcuni gratuiti (vivistat credo sia) non puoi eliminare il proprio IP altri forniscono numeri buoni solo per il lotto, quelli a pagamento (shinystat o qualcosa di simile) non hanno la possibilità di gestire il multi site, devi comperare una licenza per ogni sito. Insomma, un CAOS.
L’unico che mi sembra valido è la funzione contatore integrata in Joomla, ma il prodotto è tanto complicato che mi sono arreso, ed è stato accantonato per il più amichevole WordPress.
Ma tutto questo sproloquio era per giungere alla domanda finale.
Conosci un contatore affidabile, magari in italiano, che possa gestire più siti, e che non fornisca i numeri pescandoli dal “bussolotto”??

Nessun problema per l’off-topic, non ci sono problemi a discutere anche su altri argomenti (puoi usare anche il nostro forum in futuro, si presta meglio alla discussione). Per quanto riguarda le statistiche noi utilizzavamo wordpress.com stat, ma con l’ultima versione di WP siano dovuti passare a jetpack e sinceramente non ho verificato se esclude noi amministratori dai conteggi (il precedente lo faceva…domani verifico con cura se anche jetpack permette questa configurazione); in aggiunta usiamo anche google analytics e dashboard (adesso non ho i link sottomano perché non sono al pc, domani te li posto)

In pratica è Shiword al contrario, ovvero sfondo bianco scritte nere. Se è utile per il tuo sito non so, vedi tu quello che preferisci.
Per utilizzarlo basta che copi il contenuto nella cartella temi del tuo blog, poi vai su dashboard -> aspetto -> temi e lo attivi (non cancellare Shiword originale perchè viene comunque utilizzato per il render delle pagine).

Shiword is not tested on mobile devices (unlike Fastfood that has a dedicated style for mobiles). Maybe in future releases we’ll add this feature.
For now my suggestion is to use a plugin. WordPress Mobile Pack or WP Mobile Detector seem to be good.

did you select the posts to be shown in slideshow?
Post must be manually selected in Dashboard–>Appearance–>Slideshow.
To activate the summary function for the posts shown in the main page, go to Dashboard–>Appearance–>Theme Options go to content tab and check content summary option.

Because I confirmed problems with a Japanese local package of WordPress in this version up, I will report it.
There are problems for “recent Posts” movement this time in QuickBar.
As for the function of the “extract” connection of WordPress, it is extracted the word base that I divided in a blank space, but, in fact, returns “an extract” on the basis of the number of the letters through plug in with the country package because I am Japanese, and there is not the blank space for ends of the words.
wp_trim_excerpt() is used in version up of this Shiword, but returns the extract with the word base that I divided in a blank according to WordPress main body function by saying that the above-mentioned plug in does not affect this function.

il problema è dovuto a una cattiva configurazione dei permalink. Verifica di aver impostato correttamente il file .htaccess, necessario per la struttura che hai adottato (nel caso non sapessi come fare ripristina il predefinito originale in Dashboard->Impostazioni->Permalink e appena rientro dal ponte ti aiuto a sistemarli – lascia un altro messaggio nel caso).
Per quanto riguarda i pulsanti di navigazione si attivano in automatico quando se su un post o una pagina, puoi comunque controllarne lo stato nella pagina di opzioni del tema nella dashboard.

Nel web non si usano le immagini .bmp, per svariati motivi tra cui: peso del file (bmp è un formato non compresso), supporto dei browser (pochi leggono le bmp) e svariati altri.

2 – il tema ha dimensione fissa, variarla non è una modifica immediata e richiede di rivedere svariati aspetti del tema e per questo non la facciamo

nello spazio sotto per i widget al momento non ho messo wiget, e fin lì c’ero, però resta una barra di notevole larghezza vuota, è per quello che ho chiesto se era possibile eliminarla, come volendo si può eliminare la barra laterale destra..
il link non è necessario, ma sarebbe una buona cosa metterlo per 2 motivi
- i nostri temi sono totalmente liberi, quindi uno può usarli, modificarli, smontarli e rimontarli a proprio piacere, senza che sia richiesto di mantenere i crediti agli autori (noi). Certo è che se vengono richieste modifiche o assistenza, gradiremmo che i crediti venissero mantenuti (sono anche piccoli, in fondo alla pagina e poco evidenti), come forma di gentilezza e riconoscenza per il nostro lavoro. Il link al tuo sito serve proprio a verificare che i crediti siano presenti.
- Avere la possibilità di verificare direttamente quali sono i problemi/richieste che ci vengono sottoposte, è di grandissimo aiuto e fa risparmire molto tempo
Per tornare alle tue richieste:
-immagino (ma non ne sono sicuro, ed è per questo che avere la possibilità di vedere dal vivo dove sta il problema aiuterebbe parecchio) che tu ti riferisca allo spazio vuoto sotto la linea dei crediti/copyright. COme puoi vedere il tema simula l’aspetto di un display, quindi con un’altezza che dipende dalla risoluzione del monitor. Lo spazio vuoto in fondo, nel caso che vi siano pochi articoli visualizzati o che gli articoli/pagine siano brevi e senza commenti, è quindi fisiologico.
apri lo style.css e modifica tutti i valori di 972px e 850px. (ad esempio con 1292px e 1150px).Modifica inoltre la width delle classi post_wide e post_narrow.
Ti faccio notare però che se allarghi il tema, i tuoi visitarori che hanno monitor con risoluzioni di 1024px o meno, potrebbero avere dei problemi di visualizzazione
volendo, si. cancella tutto il div id=”navbuttons” che trovi in footer.php

I am using your theme on my site with the reverse setting on it too, i have edited the 404 and a few other things though and i have noticed that the rss button in the corner doesn’t work how can i sort that, also on the custom colours page with the reverse setting on it still has the dark look to it so it is slightly confusing and hard to tell whether it will look good or not and the background with reverse goes all odd. Sorry for all of this but i want my site in tip top

You’re right, the version 1.0 of “Shiword Reverse” has some deficiencies in styling the admin section, but actually it was made “ad hoc” for a user of ours who needed a clear version of Shiword and he didn’t care about the admin style.
I’ve just uploaded a new version (2.0) of “Shiword Reverse”, that should fill those gaps. Download it again here, and reinstall.

I don’t think it’s a theme-related bug. The content of the RSS is generated by WordPress core and the theme doesn’t modify anything in it. If you’re using plugins for generating feeds, try disable them

Sorry for the spam yet again never mind about all of the rss and login stuff i sorted that, i just deleted the functions.php file in the shiword reverse, i haven’t come accross any problems from deleting it and have tested everything it mentions in the code, now i just want to know where i would be able to change the default headers so that i can make the headers that are random and change per page relevent to the theme of the website. Games.

You mean that deleting the function.php that comes with Reverse solved the rss/login bugs?
Uhmm, like the TwentyEleven theme does? replace the images in images/headers keeping the same names and try to integrate the function that TwentyEleven uses for randomize. Maybe in future release (at least a couple of months) we’ll integrate this feature.

Anyway if you’re using Shiword theme somewhere, you’ll fing most of you need under Appearance -> Theme Options.
To close comments and hide “leave comment”, just close comments in post/page edit mode.

to remove recent comments go to Appearance->Theme Options and in “quickbar” tab uncheck recent comments.
To remove comments from a post/page: in post/paeg edit mode open open Screen Options tab (you should see it in the upper right of the dashboard), and check Discussion. Now a discussion box should have appear at the bottom of the page, just uncheck Allow comments. and Allow trackbacks and pingbacks on this page.. Update the post.

Salve a tutti, non so se faccio bene rivolgermi a voi per questo problema ma sto cercando di risolverlo da un po’ senza buoni risultati. Quando apro qualsiasi pagina del mio sito la sidebar normalmente a destra scorre alla fine della pagina nonostante l’abbia impostata sempre a destra. Mi hanno detto che potrebbe dipendere da qualche banner sovradimensionato rispetto allo spazio consensito ma non è così. Potreste aiutarmi a risolvere questo problema?

in verità non sembra essere una questione di dimensione dei banner ma bensì una questione di codice.
Mi spiego:
all’interno del codice della pagina c’è questo
nota lo spazio nella tag di chiusura dello script
< /script>in verità dovrebbe essere scritta senza lo spazio, ovvero
</script>altrimenti non viene riconosciuta e fa sballare tutto il codice che segue (compresa la sidebar)

I can`t write english well…I have 2 questions:
I enable the features: posts thumbnail and content summary but the post thumbnail dos`nt appear. I see only the default thumbnail by your theme.
1. How to change the default thumbnail (by twobeers.net) into my post image? It look like: appeared thumbnail in related posting plugin..
