[english ->]
Quindi no javascript = no slideshow
Shiword mette a disposizione ben 5 aree widget (no, dico, 5!!!!).

Shiword is an “hitech multimedia-handsets-look-like” theme.
In the main index, posts are presented through their thumbnails – if any, and if you have not disabled them through the options – and the summary of the content.
Shiword integrates many of the tools – revised and improved – already present in the previous theme Fastfood and in general in the TwoBeers’s production, from the first unknown TheBlackCity to the popular Wallow, let’s have a look!
The “quickbar“, a sliding menu that give you quick access to all the important content as recent articles, recent comments, most popular categories and most common user tools (basically an extension of the classic “meta”). Through theme options you can choose what to display in the quickbar.
The navigation buttons are located at the bottom right of your pad. All management, consultation and navigation links of your posts, pages or attachments will appear there.
The slideshow is the exclusive feature of Shiword. You know that you can highlight the posts so they will be highly visible and always on top of the list, don’t you?! Ok, with the slideshow you’ll have another way to give your posts, and also pages, even more visibility.
Consider a few things:
- it is turned off by default. you can activate it by the theme options
- by activating the slide, the selected posts or pages will be show in a banner
- posts or pages have to be selected in the “Dashboard->Appearence->Slideshow” submenu
- slideshow needs javascript animations. So no javascript = no slideshow
- the slideshow does not appear on individual pages or posts
Tip: do not abuse of the “sticky posts”, or they will lose all meaning.
Shiword provides up to 5 widget areas. A classic one into the sidebar (which can be disabled via options), three areas in the footer and one in the head. The later was thinked for graphics widgets, such as icons – for example, your links to social networks -, various buttons or the classic search form.
All these features can be enabled/disabled in the Dashboard->Appearance->Theme Options page.
The image header can be changed in Dashboard->Appearance->Header. The header has a minimum height of 100px, but if you use bulky widgets, its size will adjust accordingly and the image background will be repeated.
Colors can be changed in Dashboard->Appearance->Custom Colors. The skin builder has also an usefull dynamic preview: no need to save and refresh to see what your site will look like.
Shiword add a new default gravatar to your blog. Go to Dashboard->Settings->Discussion and select “Shiword default Gravatar” to use it.
To give the user the sensation of being inside a uniform design environment, graphic changes have been made also to the login page.
In Shiword development, we paid great attention on compatibility, reliability, aesthetics and lightness (in order of importance). The theme has been tested on all major browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Maxthon, Safari, Opera and Internet Explorer (8 / 7) – in order of preference, nb), with and without javascript support. For animations development, we, unfortunately, abandoned the excellent Mootools in favor of jQuery, which has the advantage of being already integrated in WordPress and can solve many compatibility problems with some plugins.

Maybe I´, a little bit brainsmashed, but I´m looking for a possibility to display my artikles TOGETHER with their comments on the frontpage. Using Shiword 1.15 on WordPress 3.1
Is there any way? I really love this theme!
Hi,
Actually it’s a really tricky thing to do, and it’s against WP natural behaviour and also against your readers: just think about an index page with 20 articles and each article has 50 or more comments, it’ll be huge and it’ll be really really difficult to read, and no one will do it.
I’m afraid we cannot help you.
Cheers

you’re doing great
Hi. Jimo
How to increase the size of the central area please ?
Well, increasing the width is quite easy (just a few css mods).
Say we want to increase by 200px
#sw_body { width: 1172px; } #main { width: 1172px; } #head { width: 1172px; } #maincontent { width: 1050px; } #fixedfoot { width: 1172px; } .posts_narrow { width: 760px; } .posts_wide { width: 898px; } #sw_slider-wrap { width: 1050px; }Increase/decrease the values accordingly.
You might want to increase even the header image. So open function.php and find (line 1257 or so)
Replace
850with eg.1050Just a little tip: the actual width is compatible with 1024×768 screen resolution. By increasing it, low resolution users can’t display your site correctly
I like your theme but after the updates the font had become so small. Can i have back the bigger font?
Thanks and regards
Alicia
Hi Alicia. The last update didn’t change anything (but a little issue in the admin section). Anyway you may try to add something like this at the end of the style.css file
body { font-size: 13px; } .storycontent { font-size: 14px; }then play with the size
Just a few tips for your site:
- you use a lot of (beautyfull) images in your posts, but this makes your front page to load slowly. Consider using the “more” tag
- in your “Follow me” widget you have to paste the full path to your social accounts (eg. http://twitter.com/aliciasuah), not only the account user-name (eg. aliciasuah)
Bye!
ps: thanks for using our theme
Hello,
This template is FANTASTIC!! Well organized and so easy to change without using stylesheet.css ! Well done! It’s a template of a very high quality!
Thank you very much! My husband is very happy with the website I mad for him today! And it all goes so quick!
Hello,
This time it’s not a question about your fasfood theme !
For another site, I wanted to try out Shiword. Actually I wanted to try the slideshow part of Shiword.
I must be the stupidest man on earth ’cause I don’t understand how it works.
Iactivated it in the theme option, made sure the box are checked in the content tab of the theme option.
I told the site that my index page is “vœux”, declared vœux in the slideshow panel as a slideshow indeed. I even associated all my images with this page. But it doesn’t work.
I looked for an answer on your site and on the web, but found nothing.
I’m becoming crazy !
Can you help me please ?
Sincerely,
David
Hi David,
Looks like you’re doing everything right… The only think that is not clear to me is “did you choose what to show in slideshow?”.
To make Slideshow works, you should tell it wich posts/pages to display; go to Appearance -> Slideshow and check posts/pages that you want to be displaied in slideshow.
Let me know something
Cheers
I have a little issue with my blog posts.
If you go to my blog listing (http://www.prodigitalgroup.com/blog/), at the bottom of the page you’ll see “PAGE 1 OF 2″ with no continuation to the 2nd page?
Until today i always increased the max posts/page number in my settings in WP so i had just 1 page for all posts but now it bugs me a little bit.
Please help! :\
For pages navigation there’s the left/right arrow icons in the navigation bar (on the bottom right of the frame). Alternatively you can activate the option called “classic navigation links”, or install a navigation plugin (like WP-PageNavi)

Hi,
your previous comment was removed as it was posted in the wrong place.
We don’t speak Español here, but I can understand you don’t know how to show images in the slideshow. Have a look to this post it shoul help you solve your problem.
Bye
why my post body content not displaying??please help me.. my site http://himatika..mipa.ugm.ac.id
post in “News” menu.
thank you.
Really dunno why. I may suggest you to update the theme (version 3.02 is available), this may fix the problem
there is an error message when i update the themes.
An error occurred while updating Shiword: Download failed. Failed writing body (456 != 1448).
do you know what’s wrong?
probably your installation of the theme is corrupted (even the javascript animation file is gone).
Try this: disable active plugins, switch to, let’s say, TwentyEleven, then delete you actual installation of Shiword and reinstall it again. Switch back to Shiword and, if everything is ok, reactivate the plugins
Hello!
I’m using Shiword theme on my club’s web site and it is working great. I’d like to change the background of the site which ,I’m guessing, consists of two images. The upper part’s color is customizable in the dashboard. My problem here is the lower part. Whatever I try to do, it stays white. I’ve tried searching for it in the files, but with no success.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers
Hi!
You’re right, the background consists in a color (the customizable one) and a image (fixed to the bottom).
The image you need to change is shiword/images/custombg.png. Edit it with an image editor, or simply delete it.
Bye
Hello
I update the translation file of Shiword3.02.
Please teach one.
Please teach a difference of “posts extra info” and “in posts overview” of “Theme Options” -> “content”.
It was not found a difference to me.
Always thank you for wonderful themes.
Hi!!
Option “posts extra info” is for globally hide/show the extra informations (the gray bar after a post title with author, tags, categories etc…), while the “in posts overview” sub-option is for hide/show the extra informations only when in posts overview (like in main blog page, in archives and so on).
I hope it’s more clear now
Thanks for your accurate and prompt translations. You rock!
Hello, Jimo.
Thank you.
I was able to confirm it, and translation is pushed forward in this.
In what think that take time a little more because there are many new translated sentences, but commit again thanking you in advance.
Always thank you.
Hi, great theme this is!
I have designed my website around Shiword and wonder if anyone can help me explain some things about the Facebook Plugin. What I need to know, is there a way to check the statistics of the “Likes” per page? Because all I see at the moment is a number of how many people who clicked the Like button… I would also like to know if I can see a list of people who like the page and if I have to register the website on my Facebook account.
Do I have to install an extra plugin to analyse the data and display it on my Dashboard?
Many thanks in advance
Olà Jeremy. Yes, this little button displays only the number of people who have clicked it. For additional features, you need to install some kind of plugin. Bye, and thanks for using our theme
One of The WordPress Theme i like so much is Shiword. This is a great wp theme. I Reccommeded to my all web hosting cliens to use this powerfull theme…
My Questions is? How to change background of posting page? black to white colour?
Success for All
Thank U
Hi there,
thanks for your compliments.
Shiword is, natively, a dark color theme, but Jimo had made a child theme named Shiword Revers and you can find it in our downloads section (http://www.twobeers.net/downloads?did=21).
I must aware you that Shiword Reverse was based on Shiword 2.08 and it could not work as expected with the current version.
If you encounter some problems just report them and we’ll do our best to help out.
Cheers
